New Jyothi Publications ("New Jyothi", "we", "us" or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. It applies to this website (www.newjyothipublications.com), our online store (shop.newjyothipublications.com), the School Login portal, the Eduspring mobile application, and any other service that links to this policy (together, the "Services").
We process personal data in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under them. By using the Services you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact details – name, mobile number, email address and message when you use our contact form, write to us or call us.
- Order details – billing and delivery name, address, phone number and order history when you buy from our online store.
- Account details – school name, user name, email address and password when a school or teacher account is created for the School Login portal or Eduspring.
- Job applications – CV, qualifications and contact details when you apply for a role with us.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data such as IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, time spent and referring website.
- Cookies and similar technologies, as described in our Cookie Policy.
- For the Eduspring app, basic device information and, only when you allow it, camera access to scan QR codes printed in our books.
Payment information. Online payments are handled by third-party payment gateways. We do not store your full card, UPI or net-banking details on our servers.
2. How we use your information
- To process, pack, deliver and support your book orders, including invoices and returns.
- To create and manage school and teacher accounts and provide digital learning content.
- To answer enquiries, requests for specimen copies and customer support messages.
- To send service messages about your order or account.
- To send news about new titles and offers – only where you have agreed, and you can opt out at any time.
- To keep the Services secure, prevent fraud and fix technical problems.
- To understand how the Services are used so we can improve our books, website and app.
- To comply with tax, accounting and other legal obligations.
3. Legal basis for processing
We process personal data only for a lawful purpose and on one of the following grounds:
- Consent – which you give when you submit a form, create an account or accept optional cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate uses permitted by law – for example, completing an order you asked for, or meeting a legal obligation.
4. Children's data
Many of our books and the Eduspring app are designed for students. Where a user is under 18, we process their personal data only with verifiable consent from a parent, guardian or the school acting on their behalf. We do not track children's behaviour for advertising or send them targeted advertising. If you believe we hold a child's data without proper consent, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
5. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed with:
- Group companies – Auriel Printing and Publishing Pvt Ltd and New Jyothi Offset Printers, for printing and fulfilment of orders.
- Service providers – payment gateways, courier and logistics partners, web hosting, email and analytics providers, who act on our instructions and must protect your data.
- Authorities – where required by law, court order or to protect the rights, safety or property of New Jyothi, our users or the public.
- Business transfers – if our business is merged, sold or restructured, subject to this policy.
6. How long we keep your information
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law (for example, invoices are retained for the period required under tax laws). Contact form enquiries are normally deleted within 24 months. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it securely.
7. How we protect your information
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access controls and secure hosting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a personal data breach occurs that affects you, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is processed.
- Correct, complete or update inaccurate or incomplete data.
